Ilchi Lee on resonating with others

burnedbright on Nov 30th 2007 10:15 pm

Ilchi.com posts Dr. Ilci Lee’s responses to people’s questions. Here is one I really liked…

Q: Sometimes I am very sensitive to other people’s energies. Although I try to let people’s emotions bounce off me like a rubber ball, sometimes I still feel their sadness or anger very strongly, and I wonder how much I can take around certain people. However, I realize that these emotions are not really directed at me, but are simply the result of what’s going on in that person’s life. I always try to remain calm and positive, but it is not always easy. How do I manage my sensitivity to others energies?

A: We all have a natural capacity for resonance, so it is natural to be affected by others’ emotions. But it doesn’t mean this has to be automatic or inevitable. You really need to manage your attention, rather than your sensitivity. What you sense is what you pay attention to. You can re-direct your attention to some other object instead of resonating with and being affected by others’ unwanted negative emotions.

You can’t hold attention totally within yourself because proper management of your life requires interaction with people and effective handling of difficult situations. However, you don’t need to let your whole attention follow a given stimulation, whether it be someone’s emotional state or some other difficulty. A good rule of thumb is to distribute your attention in a balanced way, focusing 30% within yourself and 70% on the outside world. You cannot measure the distribution exactly, but being aware of this concept will help. It is like keeping your dog on a leash while you are walking him or her. You can allow the dog to follow his or her own whims in some cases, and you can pull back on the leash at other times. This is the best thing for both you and your dog, and likewise it is the best way to handle your own attention to the energies around you. Learn to recognize what energies are healthy to follow and which are not.

One of the most effective practices is feeling your body. Try feeling your body through internal sensory awareness, without touching it with your hands. If you can do this, it is a solid indicator that you are holding your own leash. Practicing this will enable you to consciously direct your attention to the objects you want to focus on, instead of being influenced by unwanted energy around you.

Finally, I would like to add that you should always take responsibility for any emotion you feel inside, no matter where you think it came from. Unless you acknowledge your full ownership and responsibility for your emotions, you cannot have power over them. Remind yourself, “Whatever is within me is mine.” You will experience the power of this statement when you really accept it fully.

Who am I? What is the purpose of my life? Ask this earnestly, single-mindedly, as if driven to the last extreme. That earnestness will move you and move Heaven.

When I practice Ji-Gam I focus on these questions.

Reestablish Connection with Earth

From Ilchi Lee’s book The Twelve Enlightenments

Spirituality is the bridge that connects us to the ultimate source of all existence, the sea of nothingness.  Therefore, a spiritual awakening is reestablishing the connection to the source, discovering your own roots, in a sense.  The first order of business that we must accomplish in order to know our own roots is to know the root of our physical manifestation first and foremost: namely, Earth.  To know that your life and Earth are not separate but one, that you are a part of the great biosystem called Earth.

A signal reaches a radio or cell phone through the frequency of its carrier wave. Information is communicated by that frequency. It would be good, wouldn’t it, if you could draw into yourself the energy of health, happiness, and peace? How do you adjust your frequency? Various frequencies and many kinds of information are found in the universe. They ultimately create who you are now. The way to draw into yourself the frequencies you want, ultimately, is found in your face. Close your eyes and create in your mind a state in which no frequency at all enters. You’re obtaining stability of mind in this way. Feel the peace within that state. Next, focus on your lips. Create a happy energy as you form your mouth into a smile. And then bring your mind to your eyes, your nose, and your forehead. It is in such a face that peace dwells. It’s something you create. It’s free of any condition. The instant you create it, hormones are secreted in your brain. If you set yourself to that frequency, the energy of the universe will continue to enter your body. Light will come out of your whole body. That light of will illuminate the world. You can send that light, that peaceful energy, wherever you want. Then you will become the light of the world, a lamp shining in the darkness.

Importance?

divayana on Sep 24th 2007 09:26 pm

What is really important in your life??

In one of my communication class…we talked about gender and identity

at first it was pretty uncomfortable and it was like learning about whole new world.

we talk about straight, gay, and lesbians and discuss about whether they should get surgeries to become straight…

and a question arose in my head “do they really have to do that?”

why can’t people accept what they are and how they are…

why do we judge them as less than others??

What is the importance of that??

I think they discuss about these things and make it more and more complicated

because people forgot what is really important which is their soul

their true self….
