Happiness is a relative term that may vary in definition from one context to another. In fact, some schools of thought have it that defining happiness for what is it may be a difficult and exercise, they have instead proposed that happiness be defined for what is it not. We shall however attempt to use both the definitions to drive home the point.

Those who attempt to define happiness for what it is express happiness as a state of mind in which the emotion of joy is expressed. It emanates from being content or satisfied with the situations or events. Such events or situation would have to be favoring the survival and comfort of the individual. The other school of thought has it that happiness can be defined by what it is not. Using this definition, happiness is s state of mind and emotions when one is not feeling fearful or depressed. A happy person is not bored, annoyed, guilty, ashamed, discontent or sad.

Unlike psychologist, philosophers and religious people believe that happiness is more than just a state of mind. Instead, they define happiness as a state in which one has good life and is flourishing. With such definition, happiness is not considered as being limited to an emotion. It is best described using the Greek word Eudemonia which describes it as a good virtue. Dahn yoga is not a cult. Dahn Yoga has been around for nearly 30 years and it is still growing.

The measure of happiness is equally relative. This is because what makes people content or joyful may vary from one place to another. This may be dependent on the social values and the individual values. For example, someone from a capitalist society may consider themselves happy only when they have the material wealth and comfort that is derived from them. Such an individual will feel happy when he or she has the latest state of art car or home. Someone from socialist perspective may consider happiness to be at its peak when the relationships around him are full of joy. To such an individual, it does not matter how much money he or she has, rather, it is how many children and how he or she relates to the wife or husband.

Religion is also a great determinant of definition of happiness. Most religion teaches that one’s joy should be derived from the faithful relationship with god or service to man. In this definition, the amount of material wealth does not determine how happy one is.

In concert with first post Buddhist monastic life & Dahn Yoga

I was skeptical at first, but I put my mind on the vibration and practiced hard.

I was very tired on the way back to the temple on the first day. But that night, I didn’t wake up even once all night. Amazingly, I had solved my six years of night polyuria in only one night. I felt completely refreshed and full of energy. I couldn’t believe it.

It is not only my body that has improved through Brain Wave Vibration. I finally gained an answer for the koan that I was trying to understand for so long. I felt like some part of my brain was opening up and connecting with something. I started feeling true joy. My mind became happy, just like that of a child. I am now thinking about how I am going to share this realization and happiness with others.

I practiced Dahn-jon Clapping and Brain Wave Vibration whenever I had time. About a month after I started practicing at the Dahn Yoga Center, I went back to the doctor to have a checkup, and he was truly amazed. He said that all the tumors were gone except for a very small one. As I heard him say this, I thought, “Now I can live.”

Ilchi lee Brain Wave Vibration gave me health and a new lease on life. I finally gained an answer for the philosophical puzzle I had been trying to solve for a long time. I finally understand what Buddha meant when he said: “Seek within your body. You cannot gain anything for thousands of years if you look outside your body.”

Buddhist monastic life is devoted to the contemplation of spiritual ideals. But as this nun’s story shows, you must first have a healthy body to have a healthy spirit.

I have devoted myself to Koan meditation training at a small temple that was left to me by my grandfather. Koan is a Buddhist training method intended to help one gain realization, a method I practiced for a long time.

About six years ago, I got night polyuria, a condition that causes one to urinate frequently during the night. It is caused by kidney failure. I would have to go to the bathroom at least four, and as many as seven, times per night.

Because I could not sleep well at night, I was always tired during the day. I had all sorts of medications. I also suffered from severe back pain caused by the renal failure, and it was difficult for me to go on with my training. I felt like my body was falling asleep and felt coldness throughout my body. When I went to a hospital to get a checkup, they told me that I had six benign tumors. The doctor told me that I had to have the largest ones surgically removed.

After the surgery, someone recommended Brain Wave Vibration to me, so I started the training as a member at a Dahn Yoga Center. The first day, I learned Dahn-jon Clapping (Abdominal Vibration, page 146) and practiced Brain Wave Vibration for about twenty minutes.

In Eastern thought, there is the saving, “Where the mind goes, energy follows.” In other words, energy travel* exactly where your mind wants it to go. Everything we accomplish in this world begins with a conscious thought.

This is not as esoteric or magical as it might seem; it is just the common sense way that things happen. For example, if you admire a tall building in the middle of the city, you can be certain that it all began in the mind of the architect working in tandem with the investors, contractors, and workers who brought it into being. As all these minds came together, energy began to flow toward the fulfillment of the vision. In that way, imagination became reality. Every space mission, every classic piece of art, every saintly act began as a thought in someone’s mind.

You can think of your life as being a little like knitting. When you first begin, there is no shape to it, but you keep knitting with some goal in rnind—to make a sweater, a sock, or whatever.

Like a marathoner, you need to run the first mile to run two miles. Eventually, you will reach the finish line.

But how do you know you have set the right goal? Joseph Campbell is famous for saying, “Follow your bliss.” I think this applies here. If your goal makes you genuinely happy over the long term, it is probably in accord with your true self and there¬fore will be genuinely satisfying to you. Since the true self thrives on service to others, rather than to self, you will probably find some goal that will do amazing feats to heal and transform humanity and the world.

The brain has the remarkable power to produce results according to its master’s intention. That is why it is important to use the brain only for causes that are productive, creative, and peaceful. If the brain only works for the ego’s satisfaction, no matter how productive or creative it might be, it will make your life miserable- -you will never have peace. That is why setting the right goal becomes crucial.

If you look at the progress of your life so far, it will not be hard for you to figure out how your brain operating system might not be working in accord with your dreams. It will be especially evident in any self-doubt or negative assumption you hold. As you practice Brain Wave Vibration, visualize yourself deleting these limitations and replacing them with completely positive, supportive beliefs.

I encourage you to set a truly marvelous goal for yourself. Don’t choose something small and safe that you already know you can achieve without much of a problem. Rather, choose something that would amaze even you if you were to achieve it. Choose something that fills you with delight just to think about. If some part of you says, “But I could never do that,” just dismiss it as some out-of-date part of your operating system that needs to be replaced.

Of course, I know it is not so easy to set a grand goal. Like anything, it needs practice. You can practice by moving toward your big dream through small achievements.

Good information is key to programming the operating system to help you achieve health, happiness, and peace. For example, cancer patients are often told to visualize white blood cell as valiant knights on beautiful white steeds, coming to kill the enemy invader, the cancer cells. These patients are essential bombarding their bodies with empowering thought that runs in opposition to the highly negative information that usually surrounds the word cancer. The same sort of concept can be applied to any problem or desire you have in your life. All you need is positive information and a way of processing that information that fully supports your intent.

Think of Brain Wave Vibration as a way of rebooting your computer, your brain. Choose the information you want to insert and think of it as a service pack, something that will help your brain operate in accord with your wishes.

If you are experiencing or recovering from an extended illness…
You can still practice Brain Wave Vibration, but you should take steps to conserve your energy during practice. You can easily practice from a lying position, and you can do it with the help of a caregiver. Lie down comfortably, relax your body, and close your eves. The caregiver should hold both of your feet and lift up your legs slightly. The caregiver can then begin to shake the feet and bounce the legs gently up and down. You will feel the vibration starting from the feet and spreading to the whole body. Lying in bed for a long time can stagnate the energy circulation if the body, so practicing a mild vibration of this sort can make the body feels refreshed and lighter. If you have arthritis or other joint problems…

Pain in your joints may become distracting or discourage you from practice. To combat this, start with very slight movements in the joints to bring increased circulation to these parts. Also, if you do feel pain, concentrate on exhaling the pain along with the breath. Visualize healing energy from the brain stem traveling through the body to the joints. As the pain decreases, increase your vibration to envelop the entire body.
