Any thorough meditation process should focus on clearing energy pathways known as chakras, which run down the center of the body and allow individuals to operate at their full human potential.
Chakras are located at the crown of the head, forehead, throat, chest, upper abdomen, lower abdomen and near the genitals. Each chakra must be cleared and functioning well in order for individuals to reach an optimal mind-body-spirit connection.
Each chakra corresponds with a type of energy related to an emotion or human attribute. For instance, when the heart chakra is healthy, the individual will feel open and connected to other people. Upper chakras control intelligence, thought and expression, while lower chakras correspond with primal feelings like sexuality and power.
No one chakra should be viewed as more important than another, since alignment between the seven is paramount to any individual energy point. Author and philosopher Ilchi Lee believes that an overall state of health is dependent on this centeredness.
As an individual meditates, they should focus on each chakra one at a time to be sure each one is activated, strengthened and healed.
